Ed Brown Products places great importance on the use of the best materials and manufacturing techniques to achieve barrel accuracy. The barrels are crafted from T-416 modified stainless steel, the same kind used in benchrest rifle barrels. T-416 is pure and free of foreign materials, hard or soft spots, and is stress-relieved and heat-treated before rifling and refinishing. Ed Brown barrels are precision machine-cut from large, top-quality steel bars.
Ed Brown barrels are rifled using precision broaching in the original six lands and grooves, one turn in sixteen, left-hand twist that John Browning originally designed. This deep-cut, broached rifling provides exceptional accuracy with every type of bullet (including lead). An aerospace-certified heat-treating facility heat-treats Ed Brown barrels, and they're sub-zero frozen to maximize strength and stress relief. This leads to greater accuracy and longer barrel life. Finally, Ed Brown has maximized the outside barrel dimensions to minimize the need for fitting work and enhance accuracy for the shooter.
