The Daniel Defense RIS III Rail Interface System uses the proven design of the two-piece RIS II rails, which have been used by U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) since 2006. However, the RIS III reduces weight while adding versatility by using the M-LOK attachment system. The result is a rail that accommodates accessories using the popular M-LOK attachment system and features a free-float barrel design, durable aircraft-grade aluminum construction, and an uninterrupted upper rail platform with Mil-Spec 1913 rails, just like the RIS II. Additionally, the RIS III offers seven M-LOK attachment points along the handguard and integral QD swivel attachment points on both sides.

The RIS III features a free-floating barrel design for increased accuracy and M-LOK attachment on 7 surfaces along the length of the handguard. The two-piece design allows for attachment of M203 and M320 grenade launchers when the lower rail section is removed (RIS III 12.5 and 13.0 FSP only). The handguard is constructed of aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum and attaches securely to the upper receiver with a battle-tested, 6-bolt bolt-up system and grade 8 military specification fasteners.
