The machined beavertail grip safety, made from solid barstock, is deliberately left slightly oversized at crucial points to allow customization by the gunsmith. It is wider than the frame which permits fitting to the frame, rather than the frame to the beavertail, leading to a snug, secure fit. The lower end of the beavertail has a longer overall length, and the angle is designed to fit the gap between the mainspring housing and the safety. The radius of the beavertail is .245', compatible with pre-cut frames of .250", while the pin hole is finish reamed to .158" to further improve the fit and function. When the gun is held, a large contact pad guarantees positive engagement. The .220 radius grip safeties are created to fit Springfield and Caspian frames.
